Elbit Systems announced it has won a contract worth about $170 million from Israel's Ministry of Defense to establish and operate an advanced training and simulation center for the IDF Artillery Corps, Globes reports. The contract will be performed over 15 years.
The center will support the integration of the ROEM (SIGMA) self-propelled artillery system and the LAHAV (PULS) precision rocket launcher into the corps. Elbit will develop and deliver a training infrastructure that includes mission and driving simulators, classrooms and dedicated facilities, with simulation technologies, automation and AI-based functions. The company will also provide training, maintenance and support throughout the contract.
According to Elbit, the center will shorten qualification times and improve training efficiency while reducing the use of, and wear on, operational platforms.
