An official Peruvian Navy delegation supervised factory acceptance tests (FAT) of the Barak air defense missile launcher system at Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) facilities. According to Israel Defense, citing Infodefensa, the tests were meant to verify compliance with the contract and examine the parameters needed before the system is deployed.

The system will be integrated into the combat suite of the new HDF-3600 ships being built for the Peruvian Navy by local shipbuilder SIMA Perú with South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries. Construction of the first ship in the class is under way at the Callao shipyard.

The Barak family includes four interceptor variants: Barak ER with a range of up to 150 kilometers, Barak LR with 70 kilometers, Barak MR with 35 kilometers and Barak SR with 15 kilometers. According to unofficial reports, the frigate will have a 24-cell vertical launch system. The value of the deal has not been disclosed.
