BYD sold 490,168 new energy vehicles (battery electric and plug-in hybrid) in October, up 11% from a year earlier and its best month of 2026. For comparison, Kelley Blue Book estimates that just over 262,500 EVs were sold in the US in the whole third quarter.
Plug-in hybrid sales fell 17% in October to 177,382 units, and battery electric models made up about 63% of sales. So far this year BYD has sold 1,953,700 battery electric vehicles, up 6%.
The company exported 170,194 vehicles in October and more than 1.5 million so far this year, nearly double last year. BYD expects about 2 million overseas shipments in 2026 and more than 2.5 million in 2027.
