Czech Defense Minister Jaromir Zuna told parliament's defense committee that the defense ministry has made arrangements to procure four Spyder All-in-One systems made by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. The report came from Czech news agency CTK; Globes first reported the deal in September.
The Czech Republic chose Spyder in 2021 in a $620 million government-to-government deal led by Israel's Ministry of Defense, becoming the first NATO member to buy a complete air defense system from Israel. According to Globes, two of the four batteries bought then are already in the country, and production of all of them is complete.
The new procurement expands cooperation between the two countries. Spyder is a mobile short- and medium-range air defense system. The value of the new deal and the delivery schedule were not disclosed.
