Meta has acquired Conductor, an AI coding startup that lets users spin up software projects by deploying multiple agents into parallel workspaces. The news was first reported by Axios, and Meta confirmed it to TechCrunch without further details about the deal.
Conductor was founded in 2024 and launched its core product only last summer. Its agent teams run in the cloud, locally or from a phone, with each agent working on a separate part of a project. The agents are not built in-house: they use models from Anthropic and OpenAI.
Founder and CEO Charlie Holtz wrote that existing features will keep working until early next year, when the company will offer "something new". Conductor's cloud service will shut down on November 20, after which user cloud data will be deleted.
The deal adds to Muse Code, the coding agent Meta launched in August, and to a string of AI acquisitions the company has made over the past year.
