ChatGPT can now create GIFs from a prompt or a photo the user uploads. According to The Verge, the update comes with OpenAI's new image model, Images 2.6, and lets users adjust animation speed, edit individual frames and share the result. Until now ChatGPT could not natively generate a GIF in a single step.

OpenAI says Images 2.6 also makes image generation in ChatGPT faster. The company says users now generate more than 4 billion images a week across ChatGPT and the API, up from 3 billion reported in September.

The model is rolling out to all ChatGPT and Codex users on the web, desktop and mobile apps. OpenAI is also launching GPT-Image-2.6 Flare and Sunburst in its API for faster and higher-quality image generation.
