Apple is cutting the amount its engineering teams can spend each day on AI tools, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday, according to TechCrunch. In October the daily cap was lowered from $300 to $200, and according to Bloomberg's sources more cuts are coming, with some allowances falling to $100 a day.

Outside engineering, Apple is reportedly weighing a cap as low as $25 a day. Apple did not comment in the report.

The cuts come after a period in which companies pushed staff to use AI as much as possible, and then received the token bills. Whether the productivity gains justify the cost of running the models remains an open question.
