According to a Bloomberg report citing unnamed sources, Chinese tech companies including ByteDance, Alibaba and Tencent will receive only "some tens of thousands" of RTX Pro 5500 cards over the coming months, roughly 1% of what they ordered. The report puts total orders at about $70 billion, at around $11,000 per unit, up from an earlier estimate of $35 billion.

The RTX Pro 5500 is a workstation card with the same number of CUDA cores as the RTX 5090 and 84GB of GDDR7 memory, which makes it suitable for AI work. Unlike the RTX 5090, H200 and B300, it is not subject to US export controls and can be shipped to China.

According to the report, developers in China expect a first batch of several thousand cards by the end of 2026, and about 700,000 in total by the end of 2027, a figure that could change. Nvidia declined to comment on the numbers but criticized "outdated U.S. export controls" and China's own limits on US imports.
