Israel's Percepto shifts to software: its Axion platform analyzes inspection data from any drone or sensor

Modi'in-based autonomous inspection drone maker Percepto has launched Axion, an AI platform that analyzes critical-infrastructure inspection data from third-party drones and sensors. The move marks a shift from a hardware strategy to a software-first one under a new CEO.

According to The Robot Report, Julien Bellanger recently took over from longtime CEO Dor Abuhasira. Axion is sold as SaaS, organizes inspection data by asset and applies more than 160 AI models to it, according to the company. It ingests data from supported drone platforms, fixed and mobile sensors and existing inspection archives, so customers are not tied to a single hardware provider.

According to the company, the system can identify a downed wire by its relationship to surrounding components, or evaluate a thermal anomaly against an asset's expected behavior and environmental conditions. A language model lets users query the inspection corpus in plain language. The platform targets upstream oil and gas, power transmission and distribution, and processing facilities, among others.

Percepto will keep selling and supporting its drones and docks, and manufacturing will move to the US. The company, founded in 2014 with US headquarters in Austin, has not published pricing or first customers for Axion.
