According to the company, the discount applies for the first time across every sales channel: direct purchases now, and through cloud providers in the coming months. There is no minimum spend commitment, and agencies pay for what they use. Anthropic estimates the discounts will save the government $1 billion, and is also launching a dedicated program to help agencies with implementation.
Anthropic says about 500 US federal, state and local government organizations use Claude, weekly active users of Claude for Government are up about eightfold since February, and usage across federal civilian agencies has grown about 20-fold in a year. Claude for Government, at FedRAMP High, has been generally available since September 30, and Claude Enterprise is in process for FedRAMP Moderate authorization.
Purchases at the discounted price are available now through GSA's Multiple Award Schedule. The company did not publish the length of the agreement or the expected spend.
